Battlefield Study
The sea wall at Marmazemi, the scene of 231 Brigade’s assault landing on Sicily during Operation HUSKY in July 1944.Battlefield Studies focus not only on historical aspects but also on decision making, co-operation, strategic, operational and tactical challenges. We will provide presentations, lectures and preliminary study packs, including bespoke written materials for use before and during the tour. We are able to write TEWT style exercises to support your training aims and find these particularly useful for OTCs.
We aim to minimise the administrative burden on you. We will liaise with the project officer throughout the planning and preparation phase, organising transport, accommodation, messing and other services as required. For Battlefield Studies to be best value for money it is essential that participants are exposed to highly competent SMEs who bring the subject alive, relating previous campaigns and battles to current operations.
Our SMEs are for the most part ex-Service personnel who have held rank raging from senior NCO to senior commissioned officers. Many of them have considerable training experience from their military careers, a number are Staff College graduates and all of them are expert, professional and knowledgeable.
For the DTUS units our tours satisfy the education needs of the Bursars which cannot be developed more cost effectively by alternative forms of education. The Battlefield Study develops the Bursars' appreciation of Joint operations as well as developing single service ethos.
There is an emphasis on the study of leadership on these tours to stand them in good stead for their future careers.
‘Well executed, with a passionate and very well informed guide, the 11 Signal Brigade Battlefield Study to the Lines of Torres Vedras was both an excellent medium for professional development and hugely enjoyable’.
- Brigadier Alan Hill, Commander 11 Signal Brigade
