Andy Moorhouse retired from the Royal Military Police in 2009 after 30 years service, with tours of duty in the UK, including Northern Ireland, Germany, Canada, USA, Bosnia, and Africa.
He is now a civil servant working for the British Army in Germany. His interest in battlefield tours began on a tour to Ieper whilst a young soldier. Since then he has been a student on many tours and has guided tours covering WW1 and WW2, ranging from Belgium to Berlin. He is presently half way through a Masters Degree in WWI Studies at Birmingham University.
He originates from Burnley, Lancashire, which led to his particular interest in the Accrington Pals battalion of the First World War. As an ex-Military Police officer, he also has an abiding interest in the military justice system of the British Army during WWI, especially the death penalty.
