Allan Wood - Guide

After serving for 22 years in the Royal Armoured Corps as a tank commander and gunnery instructor Allan became a History Teacher in 1998.  Whilst serving a further 9 years in the Army Reserve Allan began guiding battlefield tours in 1999.

Since his first tour to Normandy, Allan has guided over 200 battlefield tours for Regular and Reserve military units, schools and numerous adult groups of all sizes from many nations to the battlefields of Europe. Allan has also guided on the battlefields and campaigns outside of those of the two World Wars such as Waterloo, Agincourt and Berlin amongst others.  Allan also regularly gives talks and presentations on Military History and more to local groups and organisations and has appeared on television. 

Allan is a member of our ITG Realties of War guide team and an Accredited Guide of the International Guild of Battlefield Guides, holder of Badge 66. During the recent pandemic became a Volunteer Guide for the CWGC, taking many visitors to the CWGC locations near his home in Dorset.
