Faffemont Farm revisited


Last year we were delighted to be asked by the King's Own Scottish Borderers Association to organise a visit to the Somme which would afford them an opportunity to commemorate the centenary of the Regiment's attack on Faffemont Farm on 3rd September 1916, that cost the 2nd Battalion over 200 casualties.

The high point of this 5-day tour, led by Anglia's Keith Dolan and which included a chance to look over the battlefield of 1 July 1916 and the advance of 2 KOSB's assault on the Switch Line on 22 July 1916, was without doubt the opportunity to walk the ground of the attack up to Leuze Wood, with pipes playing, precisely 100 years to the second.
