For those schools currently unable to travel across to France or Belgium, Anglia is delighted to offer a selection of fully-guided, First World War tours which focus on the treatment and care of the wounded on the British Sector of the Western Front 1914-1918.
With hands-on sessions, supported by a selection of period uniforms, weaponry and kit, these tours can cover a wide range of themes including:
- trench construction and trench warfare
- health and hygiene in the trenches
- illness, injuries and treatment on the Western Front
- battlefield wounds; medical treatment on the battlefield
- the casualty evacuation process: from front line to Blighty
- What happened to those who did not make it?
- The role and ethos of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Available in the Midlands, Kent and East Anglia, each tour includes visits to a range of locations which can include:
- a reconstructed trench system
- a former First World War training camp & dressing station
- original First World War buildings
- a local Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery or burial plot
