The Trenches are much closer than you think!
Let Anglia take your students to the front line without taking them abroad. This fully-guided tour, delivered in conjunction with our friends at Khaki Devil and the Great War Huts, has been designed specifically to enable your students to develop a deeper understanding of the events, experience and legacy of the First World War.
The tour includes:
- A visit to restored, original First World War buildings - the ideal environment to learn about the period and with plenty of opportunities to try on the kit and handle the weapons
- A chance to explore a large, reconstructed trench system, originally built for film and television work, and used by productions as varied as the film adaptations of 'Journey’s End' and 'Private Peaceful'
- A guided tour of a local cemetery which contains a number of Commonwealth War Graves Commission burials from the First World War
The tour can cover themes including:
- Recruitment and training of the British Army
- How did uniforms and equipment develop during the war?
- Trench construction and trench warfare
- What was life really like for a soldier in the First World War?
- Illness, injuries and treatment on the Western Front
- The changing nature of warfare
